Favorite looks from the 2015 Academy Awards

The Academy Awards were held last night and being the HUGE movie buff that I am, I could not miss it. Ever since watching How I Met Your Mother, I’ve been a fan of Neil Patrick Harris and I think he did a great job. He looked so happy to just be hosting that he didn’t even care if some of his jokes weren’t funny to everyone.. he was too busy trying not to crack up at himself. Birdman ended up being the big winner of the night (no surprise there), snagging Best Picture amongst other awards. Big Hero 6 won for Best Animated Film and I couldn’t be more thrilled, it’s one of my favorite movies. I was also super excited that the short film that shows before Big Hero 6, titled Feast, won for Best Animated Short Film! I was shocked American Sniper was beat out in most of their nominations as the general consensus was that it was a fantastic movie, although personally, I wasn’t a fan.
While most of the focus is obviously on the movies, you can’t help but stare in awe at some of the looks! So here are all my favourites from last night 🙂
Reese Witherspoon does it right most of the time for me and last night, she definitely did! Her gown by Tom Ford hugs and accentuates her curves. I also love that she kept the jewelry to a minimum, no statement pieces, just enough to truly be accessories to her look.
Can I get a “hallelujah praise tha lord” for Emma Stone?! She looks PHENOMENAL in a gown by Elie Saab, which is definitely one of my top favorite designers btw. Absolutely loving the high slit and the textured look of the gown. She did a great job of keeping the focus on the dress as well by not over accessorizing with her jewelry and shoes.
This woman did not just have a child! Zoe Saldana looks just stunning in Atelier Versace. The blush pink is soft and feminine, while the gown itself is structured and enhances her curves.
Chloe Grace Moretz is also someone that always nails her red carpet looks. Her Miu Miu gown is girly and fun, but elegant. She always does a great job of remaining classy while still looking her age at the same time.
You’re lying if Lady Gaga’s tribute to the Sound of Music didn’t absolutely blow you away. I’ve never been a huge fan of her music, but I’ve always been in LOVE with her voice. She sings with such power and confidence. Staying true to her ways, her gown by Azzedine Alaia definitely stands out. I love how structured the sleeves and bodice are, while the rest flows. Her slicked back updo keeps the focus on the dress itself, as well as the red gloves as statement pieces.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are one of my favorite couples. Their styles always compliment each other well. John Legend’s suit in Gucci is very classic and looks great on him. Chrissy Teigen is a stunner, as always. Her powder blue Zuhair Murad Haute Couture gown is just gorgeous. I love the high to low look of the skirt and that she kept her heels minimal as to compliment and not clash with her gown. I personally love the vampy lips and her strong cheekbones and glowy skin.
In love with this Yanina Couture gown Jamie Chung is in. The dress overall is a classic silhouette, while the bursts of sequins give it a playful and fun twist.
You can see in these photos that very simple updos and soft waves and curls were the popular choices   in hairstyles. Very natural, glowy makeup looks were also very popular that night as well as statement lips.
