I’ve never been a DIY spa girl, or much less, a take a bath type of girl. As I get older and the less time I actually get to fully relax, I realize the importance of de-stressing yourself. I’ve eyed Fig + Yarrow products for quite a while and even have the Floral Milk Bath (which of course, I still have yet to use). From bath salts to mud masks to seasonal herbal steams, Fig + Yarrow has plenty to choose from! I hope to pick up a couple more of their products soon and I can get my DIY, Pinterest Dream Spa on!
A couple of weeks ago, I attended America’s Beauty Show in Chicago at McCormick Place. Imagine IMATS, but with hair products haha. You have all the major lines there such as Paul Mitchell, Redken, TIGI, Pureoology, CHI, Moroccan Oil, American Crew, etc. As well as tons of smaller brands intermixed throughout. If you are a hair and makeup junkie like me (I mean let’s be real, you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t), this place is heaven. You have hundreds of vendors, great deals, tons of stages and presentations. You’d literally have to be lacking a creative bone in your body if this place didn’t inspire you at all. This was the 2nd year I’ve attended and lemme tell you, I handled it a lot better than last year! I went as a student and it was my first time going so I seriously had NO idea what to expect. I’ve been to the Auto Show at McCormick Place several times, but the beauty show is a whole other level. Definitely overwhelming to say the least. This year, I went into it with a list of booths I couldn’t miss and it made my day so much easier! I made sure I had enough time to visit all the booths I wanted to visit and buy all the products I needed to get because HELLO? amazing deals! The show isn’t just limited to only hair lines, they also have lots of makeup vendors as well as a separate show in the same building for skin and body. The highlight of my entire day was getting the opportunity to meet JP DeJoria, co-founder and co-owner of Paul Mitchell. He has such a great spirit about him that even being in his presence for five minutes was awesome.
FUN FACT: the backstreet boys were there??????????? I saw Nick Carter in person. It was weird, haha.
So excited to finally have these lil babies! I’ve always leaned towards matte shadows more than shimmery ones simply because my eye shape can only handle one shimmery shade at one time. I still have to play around with all of the shades, but I can tell you right now that Wanderer (second shadow on the bottom row) is hands down my favorite. The Tarteist eyeliner, I will admit, is quite gimmicky. However, I do appreciate that the liner probably has less of a chance of drying out because of it being in a tube rather than a pot and that it came with a nice liner brush. It does dry black which I love, however I’ve had issues with it smudging throughout the day even while I’m wearing a primer. I’d say it’s a pretty average liner, nothing spectacular, but not terrible either.
